Dylan Pepper

Dylan Pepper

Dylan Pepper is a session drummer and percussionist who has joined the SLRS team from Orkney in Scotland. He has worked with a range of artists, including Ivan Drever of Wolfstone and The Andy Gunn Band, touring and recording in the UK, Europe and Scandinavia. Dylan studied drums with two of the UK’s finest drum tutors, Bob Armstrong and Pete Riley during his time in London and specialises in the Moeller technique. He enjoys listening to and playing music by The Beatles and Stevie Wonder.

James Carling

James Carling

Guitar tutor James Carling is the vocalist and guitarist for All Becomes Clear. He is into rock music, Black Sabbath’s self titled album is a favourite. James has qualifications in classical guitar as well as music A-level and a foundation degree in Music Performance and Technology.

Glenn Irvine

Glenn Irvine

Drum and vocal tutor Glenn Irvine has played drums and, was most recently lead vocalist, in several local rock and metal bands. He has a Grade 8 qualification in Drums (Rockschool) and includes Metallica, Motorhead, Aerosmith and Disturbed amongst his many musical influences.

Danny Stone

Danny Stone

Guitar and bass tutor Danny Stone rejoined us after gaining his BA (Hons) Degree in Music Production. He recently qualified as a Music Production Teacher (PGCE) in further education. Danny has played guitar for more than 15 years and has covered many genres. He now tends to focus on gigging and touring with his band ShotsFired and spends a lot of his time composing and producing. His favourite artists are Pantera, Chromeo, J Dilla, and Black Sabbath to name a few!

Samir Kessous

Samir Kessous

Guitar tutor Samir Kessous has been playing guitar for 10 years and performs lead guitar in Ska/Reggae band ‘Midnight Landing’. Samir has a BA (Hons) degree in Music Production and is a composer of sample based hip hop pieces and instrumental acoustic music. His favourite artists are Led Zeppelin, Wu-Tang Clan, Radiohead, Bob Dylan and Elliott Smith.

Ben Edwards

Ben Edwards

Ben Edwards teaches electric, classical and bass guitar, ukulele and also tutors our beginner keyboard students. He has a Grade 8 Rock and Pop Guitar qualification with distinction, in addition to a BTEC National Diploma in Popular Music. Ben listens to Led Zeppelin, Guns ‘n’ Roses and Black Sabbath and plays in a local covers band.

Abbie Clarke

Abbie Clarke

We first heard Abbie singing at a local venue and after hearing her voice, encouraged her to apply for a vocal tutor role at SLRS! She plays guitar as well as writing and performing her own songs. Abbie has a BTEC qualification in Performing Arts and a strong classically trained voice which crosses over easily into Rock and Pop. She loves listening to Adele.

Lynsey Dunphy

Lynsey Dunphy

Vocal tutor Lynsey Dunphy has been singing professionally around the UK and abroad for 20 years. She is an experienced session singer and covers a wide range of genres from soul and jazz to pop and rock. Lynsey is also a Rhythm Time leader and has taught many babies and children in the local area.

James Davey

James Davey

James Davey has been drumming for over 15 years. He has a BTEC and Foundation Degree in Music and teaches both drums and beginner keyboard at SLRS. James’ musical influences include The Roots, J Dilla, Sufjan Stevens and Michael Jackson!

Lesley Harris

Lesley Harris

Lesley Harris founded SLRS in March 2012. She teaches vocals and keyboard and has been involved in music education since 1990. Lesley has a BA (Hons) degree and PGCE in Music and has been head of music at secondary schools in both East Sussex and Cumbria. Performing with Brighton Festival Chorus and female a-cappella group Quattro before moving back to the north, Lesley now plays keyboard and sax with local band ‘The Sidecars’.
